Kaspersky’s mascot—the green bear named Midori Kuma—not only teaches people about the intricacies of cybersecurity, but also loves to celebrate various holidays. The company decided to introduce this side of Midori’s life to the public and asked us to develop a visual style for holiday postcards to be posted on social media. Our task was to make the postcards fun and cute while strictly adhering to Kaspersky’s internal style guides.
The concept was approved, and over the course of three years we drew Midori celebrating a wide range of holidays: New Year, Christmas, Halloween, various IT holidays such as Programmer’s Day and Internet Day (not to mention Safe Internet Day and No Internet Day), and then on to less well-known holidays, including ones from pop culture such as Star Wars Day, Hobbit Day, and Towel Day—this last one being in honor of that key accessory from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. In total, we created about 150 postcards in both square and HD formats, and some of them were animated, too. Social media followers, our customers from Kaspersky, and Midori bear himself were all delighted!
