LANGUAGE QUALITY ASSURANCE

Logrus IT offers language quality assurance (LQA) as a standalone service for independently checking the in-house work of our clients or third parties. At Logrus IT, we also perform internal, fully independent spot-checks of our in-house work and apply the same processes to LQAs requested by clients.

Each LQA starts with spelling, grammar and a multitude of other language and technical checks integrated into the proprietary Logrus IT AssurIT suite developed in-house over the years.

The list of checks is quite comprehensive and includes all of the following and much more:

  • Find untranslated or partially translated strings
  • Find strings that appear translated but contain some words in the source language
  • Find over-translated strings (that shouldn’t be translated)
  • Glossary adherence check
  • Locate strings where term translations deviate from approved ones
  • Product name and trademark translation check based on client guidelines and copyright materials
  • Translation consistency and reverse consistency checks
    • Locating strings/terms with the same source translated differently, and
    • Strings/terms translated similarly where source strings are different
  • Adherence to instructions check
  • Style guide adherence check
  • Find punctuation, capitalization, country standards, and other errors
  • Centrally implement and/or check requested term changes that occurred in the course of the project
  • Firmware and software references and messages in documentation, user assistance, content and other files
  • Regular expression checks (tags, placeholders, formats, etc.)
  • Global correction of non-language-dependent errors in multiple files

As far as not all checks can be fully automated, edited materials also go through the in-house quality control group that concentrates on problems that can slip through the cracks during the automated quality control stage.

Finally, in case of internal spot-checks, all failed translations that can be fixed without language knowledge or clarifying details are fixed, while others are returned to translators for re-work. Global changes are implemented for all other documents by the centralized team in-house.
